Alternanthera spp. is a colourful, low-growing foliage plant popular for its vibrant leaves in shades of green, red, and pink, depending on the variety. It’s ideal for borders, edging, or as a ground cover that brings rich texture and colour to garden beds.
This hardy plant grows well in full sun to partial shade and is well-suited to Sri Lanka’s tropical climate. It prefers moist, well-draining soil and benefits from regular watering.
Occasional trimming will keep it compact and neat, while a balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks supports healthy, vibrant growth.
