Beans Black Kora Seeds
Beans Black Kora (වැල් බෝංචි) is a high-yielding climbing bean variety known for its dark green, long, tender pods with black seeds inside. This nutrient-rich legume is an excellent source of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making it a staple in Sri Lankan cuisine. The beans can be used fresh in curries, stir-fries, and salads or dried for later use. This variety is naturally adaptable to local conditions, making it easy to grow with minimal care.
How to Grow Beans Black Kora:
1. Soil Preparation – Use well-draining, fertile soil enriched with compost or organic fertilizer.
2. Sowing Seeds – Plant seeds 1 inch deep, spacing them 12-18 inches apart in rows.
3. Provide Support – As a climbing variety, beans need a trellis, fence, or stake for proper growth.
4. Watering – Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
5. Sunlight & Care – Requires full sun (6-8 hours daily). Occasional fertilization will encourage better yields.
Harvest Time:
Beans Black Kora starts producing within 50-60 days after planting. Harvest young pods regularly for the best taste and texture, which also encourages continuous production.
