Brinjal Local Seeds

Brinjal Local (වම්බටු)  is a traditional Sri Lankan variety known for its rich flavor, tender texture, and adaptability to local climates. This variety produces medium to large-sized purple or light purple brinjals that are perfect for Sri Lankan curries, stir-fries, deep-frying, and grilling. It is a nutrient-rich vegetable, packed with fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins, making it a healthy choice for home gardens.

How to Grow Brinjal Local:
1. Soil Preparation – Use fertile, well-draining soil enriched with compost or organic fertilizer.
2. Sowing Seeds – Start seeds in a nursery tray or directly in soil, planting them ¼ inch deep.
3. Transplanting – Once seedlings develop 4-5 true leaves, transplant them with at least 2 feet of spacing between plants.
4. Watering – Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged; water regularly, especially during dry periods.
5. Sunlight & Care – Requires full sun (6-8 hours daily) and occasional fertilization for better yields. Use staking for plant support if needed.

Harvest Time:
Brinjal Local starts producing within 60-75 days after planting. Harvest when the fruits are firm and medium-sized for the best taste and texture.
