Platycladus orientalis, commonly known as Chinese Arborvitae, is a compact, evergreen conifer shrub valued for its neat, conical shape and dense, feathery green foliage. It’s an excellent choice for formal hedges, garden borders, or as a low-maintenance feature plant.
This hardy shrub thrives in full sun and adapts well to a range of soil types. It requires moderate watering more frequently in dry conditions and occasional pruning to maintain its shape.
Ideal for structured gardens in Sri Lanka, it benefits from slow-release fertilizer every 2–3 months for healthy growth.
